Lord Jazz

DJ Lord Jazz rose to prominence as the sonic backbone of the legendary hip-hop collective Lords of the Underground, where his raw energy and innovative turntablism helped define the East Coast sound of the ’90s. From classic anthems like “Chief Rocka,” “Funky Child,” and “Here Come the Lords” to the crowd-pleasing “Hit Me One Time,” his skills behind the decks have moved audiences around the globe. Beyond his pivotal role in those formative years, he remains a driving force in hip-hop culture—a producer, radio host, and an unwavering ambassador of authenticity who seamlessly blends old-school grit with a modern edge.

As a testament to his enduring influence, DJ Lord Jazz was inducted into the National Hip-Hop Museum Hall of Fame in 2024 alongside his groupmates, and he’s earned both platinum and gold certifications over the course of his career. Voted Best Rap Group by The Source Magazine in 1993, he later created the Friday Night Mixshow to showcase emerging talent and preserve real hip-hop worldwide. He’s shared stages with icons such as KRS-One, Redman, Public Enemy, and Pete Rock, and headlined major festivals from Rock the Bells and Hip Hop Kemp to the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival. International tours across Europe, Africa, South America, and North America have solidified his reputation, while recent honors—including a feature in the 1997 documentary Rhyme & Reason and the 2025 Hip-Hop series 216: The Legends of the Land on Tubi—underscore his role in bridging the art of DJing into the digital era.

In addition to his work with Lords of the Underground, DJ Lord Jazz has developed a rich solo and collaborative discography. His early efforts include The Plain Dealer (2012) and Heartbeat of the Ghetto Vol. 1 (with Doitall, 2013), followed by the debut LordTrilla (2020). He returned with The Plain Dealer 2 (2022) and Heartbeat of the Ghetto Vol. 2 (with Doitall, 2025), alongside the sophomore LordTrilla (2025). Meanwhile, Lords of the Underground remain active, most recently releasing So Legendary (2025) to widespread acclaim—proof that the legacy he helped build continues to evolve and inspire.
